SCCC REFERENCE #: 25-73 DATE: September 16, 2025 TITLE: Courier - Mailroom CAMPUS: Ammerman Campus in Selden START DATE: ASAP TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full Tiime RANK: Civil Service POSITION DESCRIPTION: TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES * May process mail through the College's mailroom to service the College's Campuses and satellite buildings; * May pick up and deliver large amounts of mail throughout the College, and certain County locations; * Answers routine questions related to mail processing; * May transport high priority checks, certificates and mail to and from the College's Offices, as well as certain County Offices; * May deliver subpoenaed or other confidential files to the College's Office of Legal Affairs, or County Offices; * May pick up, deliver certified, registered or regular mail, and ensure its prompt delivery; * Performs routine clerical tasks as required; * May perform a variety of tasks involving the use of specialized machines related to mail processing; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either: Two (2) years of driving experience as a messenger, courier, or other paid driver responsible for the transport of passengers or materials; or, Two (2) years of experience as a Driver Messenger.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT Candidates must possess the appropriate New York State driver's license, and maintain such license throughout employment in this title.
HIRING SALARY: Salary (Grade 12) in accordance with Suffolk County Civil Service and AME contract and is non-negotiable.
