Summary:
The Intermediate Wastewater Collection Specialist is responsible for the operation of the sanitary collection system. They will assist in mechanical repairs and collect daily samples, recording their work. The successful candidate will perform these duties both individually and as part of a team, occasionally working with other functions within the Utilities department.
What you'll do:
Maintain the collection system by performing daily readings and gathering samples
Inspect, clean, and maintain sewer lines, manholes, lift stations, and related infrastructure
Maintain preventative maintenance on equipment and repair malfunctions at plant
Operate and maintain jetting equipment, vacuum trucks, and CCTV inspection tools
Assist with locating sewer lines and utilities using GIS mapping and locating equipment
Follow safety procedures, including confined space entry and traffic control
Administer maintenance logs on repairs and problems
Perform grounds keeping duties as assigned to include, but not limited to, mowing, weed eating, and general yard work
Work an on-call schedule, emergency calls, and holidays/weekends as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Collaborate with wastewater treatment staff and other departments to resolve system issues
Communicate professionally with residents and contractors when performing field workWhat you bring:
Demonstrated ability of reasonable mechanical skills
Basic knowledge of computers for data entry
Must obtain a CDL driver's license (Class A or Class B) within 12 months
Wastewater certifications Class I-III within IDEM time period
Effective communication skills and fluency in English, both verbal and written
Commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence
Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms
Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl
Work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, and near moving mechanical parts
Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
