SHIFT: 1st / 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Pay: $ 32 - $43/hr
POSITION SUMMARY
The EDM Supervisor is responsible to ensure all aspects of the EDM department are performed in accordance with company policies and ensure quality and integrity of the products produced. Ensures daily activities and processes such as quoting, production scheduling, material control, warehousing, are complete. Ensures all equipment in department is properly maintained and the facility is operated in a safe manner in accordance with all regulatory requirements. This position has attained full proficiency as an EDM Operator - II and can successfully apply those principals, procedures, and setups to execute machining strategies. Enthusiasm to further develop machining skills and the ability to demonstrate problem solving skills is crucial for success
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads EDM Operators, & EDM Programmers.
Communicates - schedule/ downtime / delays an overall operational status to Production Manager and other department managers.
Maintain safety compliance and promote safe working behaviors within the department
Coordinates with the Production Manager on estimates for larger jobs
Calculate total material required to complete a job based on part geometry
Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions
Schedule workflow through work centers for on-time delivery
Perform intermediate to complex EDM machine setup & production activities in line with company capabilities
Provide advice or solutions in technical areas for less experienced machinists
Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency
Design custom fixtures for work holding as needed
Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiencies for machining and tooling selection through research and development
Other duties as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Advanced understanding of EDM wire and sinker machine operations – Specifically Fanuc & Sodick EDM machines
Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning
Intermediate ability to read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauge pins)
Intermediate knowledge of shop mechanics, mathematics, and measurement
Intermediate to advanced mechanic skills and ability, as well as the ability to use the appropriate tools for the job
Intermediate knowledge and troubleshooting ability of EDM machine systems including but not limited to, pumps and plumbing, filtration systems, hydraulic systems
Familiarity and ability to identify different material types (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Titanium, etc.)
