SUMMARY:
Performs billing functions for Outreach accounts. Processes patient charges and credits using the HIS and LIS. Compiles laboratory data using the hospital and laboratory computer systems and prepares reports as indicated. Responsible for performing non-patient registration on the HIS. Monitors nonpatient accounts for correct posting of lab charges. Assists with phone calls and Client Services duties
Responsibilities
• Performs billing functions for Outreach accounts.
• Prepares daily/ weekly/ monthly reports as indicated.
• Maintains all accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Responds to client inquiries timely and efficiently.
• Responsible for registering and or maintaining non-patients accounts; obtaining accurate demographic and billing information according to registration procedures.
• Researches problem accounts and reverses charges as needed.
Answers calls from clients, assists with providing needed information such as lab results, collection informaiton, etc.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Prior experience working with the public.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior electronic and/or hard copy billing.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Familiar with the 1500 and UB04 forms and requirements for billing/collections
Background in Accounting and/or experience in accounting.
Prior experience working with Government, State, and Commercial Insurance carriers.
Knowledge of Corporate Compliance issues in regard to HIPPA and Government Programs.
