Position: Maintenance Technician/Security Officer
Reports To: Facilities Manager/ Maintenance Supervisor
Schedule Monday – Friday 3PM-11PM on call every 3 weeks

Job Summary:
Sheridan Community Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare to our close-knit rural community. Our team values personalized care, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence. We are seeking a dependable Maintenance/Security Officer to join our patient-centered team. This is a crucial component of the practice. The Technician/Security Officer works under the immediate, day-to-day supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and under the administrative supervision of the Facilities Manager. This position is responsible for the repair and upkeep of all equipment and grounds for the hospital and hospital-owned clinics. In addition, the Technician/Security Officer is responsible for policing hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. The role also includes assisting staff with unruly visitors or patients, addressing plant safety and environmental concerns, and performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete daily work orders/assignments.
Make necessary repairs such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC (belts, motors, piping, steam traps, beds, wheelchairs electrical fixtures, etc.)
Complete duties assigned within the facility and the hospital-owned clinics Preventative Maintenance Program.
Assist with fire drills and conducting inspections of the life safety systems and equipment (fire alarm, fire suppression, nurse call, and emergency generators).
Complete tasks associated with grounds landscaping, snow removal, etc.
Will be required to be On-Call and in an On-Call rotation designated by the manager.
May be required to fill in from time to time for 2nd shift housekeeping.
Works inside and outside at all hospital properties. May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, and dust.
Patrol hospital grounds as needed
If an issue arises protect staff, patients and visitors in a timely manner
Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning, routes or detains them, or telephones police for assistance, according to circumstances
Escorts personnel to and from parking lots or between buildings as requested
Answers visitor’s questions concerning locations of various offices, rooms, and other areas within the hospital
Participate in quality improvement projects. Attend training and meetings as required
Maintains awareness of current quality and safety measures on the unit and follows guidelines or reporting measures to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
Knowledge and skills in quality improvement and research methodologies.
Performs other custodial related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications in the below criteria is a plus, but not required.
Prefer at least 5 years in the healthcare maintenance field
Prefer at least 2 years’ experience as a security officer or similar experience
Must have a clear and valid Michigan driver’s license
Must be able to walk, stand, lift (50-100 lbs.), bend, and work on hands/knees
Must be able to climb and work off ladders and roofs
Must be able to work in confined spaces
Must have the skills, abilities, and qualifications to complete the duties and responsibilities of this job description
