Travel RN - Med/Surg Tele

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Tele position in an Observation Unit, requiring a compact or OH RN license and at least two years of nursing experience.

Job Details

• Work in an Observation Unit within a hospital setting specializing in Med/Surg Telemetry and Oncology,

• Night shifts, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30,

• Patient population includes those requiring observation for conditions such as dehydration, acute kidney injury, chemotherapy symptom management, and post-procedure care,

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 with support from charge nurses, RNs, PCAs, and UCAs,

• Occasional floating to the Emergency Department when needed, with orientation provided to the area,

• Specialized procedures and care include management of PEG tube/lines, pain and palliative care, and post-procedure observation,

Job Requirements

• Active compact or Ohio RN license required at the time of consideration,

• Minimum of 2 years recent patient care experience required,

• Current BLS (BCLS) certification required,

• ACLS and OCN certifications preferred,

• Proficiency in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insertion, and PICC line management required,

• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program,

• Must provide two professional references, with at least one from a supervisor or manager,

• Responsibilities include monitoring patients under observation for short stays, managing medication and symptom relief, and collaborating with APPs and supervising physicians,

• Unit supports efficient patient throughput without premature discharge or admission,

• Scrubs are not provided; dress code is navy blue or white,

• Mandatory fingerprinting process for Ohio and urgent compliance required after contract signing,

• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate,

• Time off requests must be submitted with application and will be built into the contract,
