Job Purpose Talent Grid Africa, on behalf of our esteemed client in the Production industry, is seeking a passionateand qualified Agricultural Field Officers.
The Agricultural Field Officers will work closelywith coconut farmers to ensure that appropriate farming knowledge and practices are implementedto obtain maximum sustainable production.
The Agricultural Filed Officers will work closely withfarmers to identify and address agricultural issues, and promote adoption of good agriculturalpractices, and new technologies and innovations that can help sustain and improve coconutproductivity and quality.
This role will work closely with the buying clerks to ensure that the coconutrequirements of the company are met in terms of quality and quantity.
Key Responsibilities• Maintain accurate farm records: register farm size, number of trees, and estimateannual yield; verify through regular visits and follow-ups.• Onboard new farmers and ensure data integrity during registration.• Execute the annual work plan to build and sustain strong relationships with assignedfarmers.• Conduct scheduled farm visits, monitor activities, submit visit reports that feed intoharvest forecasting.• Track progress against targets; submit monthly reports as required.• Deliver capacity building and trainings on agronomy, climate-smart practices,organic & fair-trade standards, farmer group formation and management.• Support and monitor company programs (seedling, advance, yield monitoring) forsmallholders to improve productivity and loyalty.• Identify model farmers; establish and maintain demonstration farms.• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and risks affecting forecasted yield;report to supervisor.• Mobilize farmers to participate in meetings, trainings, workshops; follow up onabsentees with reporting.• Train buying clerks, harvesters, collectors in quality standards, documentation, andinterpersonal skills.• Assist in data gathering tasks and participate in monthly reviews of performance,work-plans and targets.• Implement budgeted agricultural service activities as approved by the Agriculture Services Manager.
Qualifications A Diploma in Agriculture Two years of work experience Excellent knowledge and understanding of farming practices including GAP, Climate smartfarming techniques.
Computer proficiency: Moderate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, MicrosoftWord, PowerPoint.
Ability to communicate effectively with people across all literacy levels.
Ability to use smart gadgets in data collection and doing surveys Confident public speaker Willingness to spend long hours in the field riding and walking in the farms.
Ability to speak fluently in English and Swahili Motorcycle riding experience with a valid license.
