POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Behrend invites applications for a tenure-line faculty position in inorganic chemistry at the Assistant Professor rank to begin August 2026. We are seeking a dedicated educator and researcher who is passionate about developing and mentoring the next generation of scientists. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vibrant undergraduate research program, seek external funding, contribute to our core chemistry curriculum, and join a collaborative academic community that uniquely blends the supportive atmosphere of a small college with the resources of a world-class R1 university. Teaching responsibilities will include participation in general chemistry and inorganic chemistry courses, and upper-level courses relevant to the successful candidate’s background. A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field is required by the employment start date. The position includes negotiable start up funds.

The School of Science offers B.S. degrees in biology, chemistry, mathematics, nursing, physics, and environmental science. Many faculty research programs are nationally and internationally recognized, are funded extramurally, and involve undergraduate researchers. Many research and teaching laboratories are equipped with advanced instrumentation/equipment, including confocal, atomic force, and scanning electron microscopes, state-of-the-art molecular biology facilities, a high-field NMR spectrometer, and a chemical instrumentation laboratory. We seek candidates whose research will contribute to and build upon our college-wide research initiatives in women's health, energy and sustainability, and polymer science.
