This role is part of a specialized team dedicated to supporting executive leadership with their technology needs. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, technical expertise, and discretion.
This role is part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure: Perform infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.
Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.
Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.
Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.
Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.
May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.
Provide white-glove support for hardware, software, conferencing, and collaboration tools, ensuring seamless technology experiences for our executive team.
Good judgement and business acumen with ability to confidently speak with executive levels of leadership.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide required executive support, potentially on evenings, weekends and during travel.
Up to 10-25% travel may be required.
Onsite position in AEP Headquarters building 1RP, Columbus, OH.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Infrastructure Engineer Sr (SG 7):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG 8):
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.
Experience: 7 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, codes and regulations relevant to assignments.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of AEP, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.
Mentor and provide functional/technical leadership and work direction to staff.
Demonstrate in-depth and thorough knowledge of AEP, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.
Exhibit and apply advanced proficiency in analysis, design, problem solving, troubleshooting, resolution, communication, and customer service skills.

Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
