Position:
The R&D Scientist, Product Development must have a proven track record and expertise in protein biochemistry and protein purification and have extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of Ubiquitin Proteasome System (UPS) research and Targeted Protein Degradation (TPD) and have experience in setting up in vitro assays.
The role reports to the CSO, working in a fast-paced and dynamic start-up team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and execute R&D projects of the development and optimization of recombinant protein production processes to ensure successful product launch. Collaborate with production team to validate manufacturing protocols, troubleshoot issues, and ensure product quality and consistency.
· Develop and implement relevant, critical quality control procedures and documentation for all recombinant protein products. Responsible for approving product release and maintaining accurate records for all production lots.
· Support new product launches by developing detailed scientific datasheets and additional content for website pages, blog posts, emails, brochures and other media platforms. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure scientific accuracy of product descriptions. Prepare abstracts and present posters at scientific meetings.
· Continuously monitor and reassess company product manufacturing schedule to ensure alignment with company plan and customer demands.
· Propose new products, and necessary prioritization adjustment and resource allocation to accommodate changes in customer requirements.
· Provide technical expertise and support to customers to facilitate the successful application and utilization of our products. Address technical inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and offer guidance on best practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product offerings and scientific developments relevant to customer applications.
· Stay abreast of the latest advancements in UPS and TPD fields by regularly reviewing scientific literature and publications. Seek advice from subject matter experts to enhance knowledge, inform decision-making, and ensure the application of cutting-edge scientific approaches in production of new, in vitro research tools.
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Work with the assay development team to understand their requirements, then deliver robust, application-specific recombinant proteins and reagents that support screening campaign services.
· Develop robust in vitro ubiquitylation and proximity assays using Alpha, HTRF, FP, luminescence and other techniques, with a focus on incorporating protein products into assay kits.
Required Skills and Experience:
· PhD in a scientific field (Biochemistry, Protein Chemistry) or related discipline, with 2-5 years of post-doctoral work.
· Extensive knowledge of the Ubiquitin Proteasome System.
· Expertise in design and purification of commercial quality, recombinant proteins using AKTA-based systems with affinity chromatography, IEX, SEC, HIC and other methods.
· Experience writing, editing, and creating various types of long- and short-form content.
· Strong written, verbal, analytical, research, and communication skills.
· Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and meet deadlines.
· Meticulous attention to detail.
· Interest in building a deep understanding of technical platforms, and the ability to translate that knowledge into relevant and valuable content.
