PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Northern Ireland is part of the Nations division producing a wide range of output across TV, Radio and Online platforms.

Business Operations NI work alongside BBCNI providing skilled craft personnel, as well as technical and production facilities, which are essential to the production of high quality output to our audiences. As a Resource Scheduler within the Planning Office team you will support programme output in a fast paced and often reactive environment with daily challenges.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Resource Schedulers provide logistical support to deliver the most cost effective and efficient way of utilising Business Operations resources, identifying shortfall at the earliest opportunity. Resource Schedulers ensure staff and facilities are accurately planned and recorded in our scheduling system to ensure we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time, with the right facilities, and in accordance with BBC Terms and Conditions and HR Policies, to deliver the required content.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

Schedule staff and facilities, assigning resources to projects in accordance with requirements and objectives of operational areas. Ensure the most cost effective method of utilising resource provision, in particular the management of overtime and freelance spend.

Input accurate information into the scheduling system including managing and recording leave, sickness & absence. Communicate changes of duty to operational staff and act as first point of contact for routine scheduling queries, escalating issues as appropriate. Produce schedules of work in advance.

Build and maintain strong day-to-day working relationships with Senior Resource Schedulers in order to understand project schedules, staff planning and facility requirements. Liaise with other scheduling colleagues, project and production teams to ensure forward planning meets future requirements.

Ensure information in the scheduling system is updated within specified deadlines to allow for production of accurate rotas and management & financial data.

Work flexibly to provide backfill cover for sick & holiday relief in the team and undertake any other duties considered appropriate to the level of this position, as defined by Business Operations Managers.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Excellent organisation and planning skills with ability to handle multiple requests calmly and effectively in order to respond quickly to short notice changes.

High standard of accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Ability to communicate assuredly, discreetly and tactfully with members of staff, ensuring that the BBC Code of Conduct is adhered to at all times.

Ability to use own initiative to assess priorities. Work pragmatically and independently, resolving issues and finding solutions in a creative and timely manner

Have, or be able to acquire, an excellent knowledge of BBC Terms and Conditions and BBC Corporate Policies to support Resource Scheduling.

Good understanding of BBC output and programming requirements.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with a range of people at all levels, delivering information in an accessible way.
