Job Description
The Laundry Attendant ensures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in the housekeeping department and laundry facilities of the Blackwell Inn; the primary function will be providing clean linens for the hotel. Sort, Wash, Dry, Fold, and Iron Linens; (e.g. handle hotel linens, including sheets, towels, and uniforms), ensuring they are appropriately cleaned and presentable. Operate Laundry Equipment; maintain Laundry Area; inspect linens. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for inventory management (e.g. track inventory levels of linens, cleaning supplies, and other necessary items), and report any shortages to the supervisor. Adhere to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Assist with other duties as assigned. The Blackwell Inn is a 24/7 operation, must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Education Required
Six months in Custodial Worker 2 title or equivalent experience; documentation of successful completion of department specific, advanced custodian certification testing (examples include Cleaning Management Institute, 3M(TM) S.M.A.R.T. Program, or other certification program recognized in the cleaning industry as reputable); Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and to read and write common vocabulary plus; documentation of 100 hrs. training in operation of cleaning equipment (or 1 mo. exp.); 100 hrs. documentation of training in supervision (or 1 mo. exp.); or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong customer service skills and related work experience in an upscale hotel desired; flexibility to perform a variety of tasks, read directions, and perform basic computer inquiries desired.
