Overall Mission
As the primary leader and single point of accountability, your mission is to strategically orchestrate a global systems integrator (GSI) partner to ensure the Data Governance program delivers business value on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Your focus will be on managing the partnership and outcomes, acting as the "keeper of the business intent" and the "guardian of the company's long-term interests."
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in project or program management role (Tech), with a strong focus on technical or digital projects.
Certifications: A PMP certification is required, and additional Agile certifications such as CSM are a definite advantage.
Skills:
Diplomacy and Influence: Superior skills in managing complex relationships between the GSI, internal IT, and business stakeholders.
Governance Design: Experience in designing and implementing effective joint governance structures.
Risk Management: A heightened focus on strategic risks such as vendor lock-in and knowledge retention.
Adaptability: Capable of handling 4-5 projects simultaneously with support from project managers deployed by each partner.
Vendor Management Expertise: Proven experience in managing multi-million dollar GSI engagements, including contract negotiation and dispute resolution preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vendor Management: You will establish and chair a joint governance structure with the GSI, managing the relationship at both executive and operational levels.
Internal Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary buffer and translator between the GSI and internal business and IT stakeholders. You will manage internal expectations and protect the GSI team from ad-hoc requests.
Program Planning & Oversight: Review and approve the GSI's project plans and methodologies, ensuring they align with the company's culture and constraints. You will act as an independent verifier of the GSI's progress, vigilantly managing commercial models such as Time & Materials (T&M) to ensure productivity and quality.
Technical Execution & Integration: Ensure that knowledge transfer is a formal, non-negotiable part of the contract. You will work with the enterprise architecture team to guarantee proposed solutions are sustainable and fit the long-term IT strategy, avoiding vendor lock-in.
