American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position with rotating day/night shifts and strong critical care skills. Responsibilities
Work in the Medical ICU caring for adult and geriatric patients
Common diagnoses include oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleed, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, and sepsis
Treatments involve mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheters, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, and plasmapheresis
Procedures may include bronchoscopy and endoscopy
Uses Epic EMR and Epic experience is required
Schedule consists of 12-hour day and night shifts with potential for rotating assignments every 4 weeks
Floating may be required based on departmental needs
Not open to first-time travelers
Former employees eligible only if separated for more than 6 months; current employees at Ohio State University hospitals are ineligible
Compliance with Ohio fingerprinting is mandatory and must be completed promptly
All RTO must be submitted upfront and built into the contract
Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Team-based environment with support for complex and high-acuity cases
May participate in care for patients involved in clinical trials
No coworker references accepted for consideration Requirements
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of application
Minimum 2 years of recent Medical ICU experience
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Proficiency in mechanical ventilation and IV starts
Must be a graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
Experience with Epic charting system is required
References required: 2 professional, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor Benefits
