Dan O'Sullivan Racing Seeking - Foreman

Dan O’Sullivan Racing is currently seeking a highly experienced, capable, and hands on person to assist Dan with the day-to-day running our Ballarat thoroughbred racing stable.

Essential Skills: Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing Proven ability to train and educate horses Oral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction and provide information and/or instruction Proven leadership, communication and problem solving skills Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorses Key Responsibilies: Horse Handling: confidently handle, saddle, educate and improve manners of inexperienced horses.

Horse welfare & presentation: ensuring horses are fed and groomed to the highest standard.

Maintain individual horse care plans.

Ensuring boxes/yards and paddock are cleaned to the highest standard.

Health & compliance: daily trot-ups and soundness checks; record treatments; liaise with vets and farriers; ensure WHS protocols and stable regulations are followed.

Assist trainer to coordinate track work, swimming, treadmill and rehab; manage race day gear; organise race-day staffing and float logistics.

Records & communication: keep accurate work, medication and movement records; provide clear updates to the trainer on any issues.

Race-day attendance: present horses professionally; communicate with owners, officials and media as required.

Salary: Attractive Salary.

Must have: Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia and comply with Racing Victoria and WHS policies.

Hours/Roster: Rotating 7 day roster with rotating Sundays.

Early morning starts/split shifts.
