Key responsibilities
As a Depot Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance across our operations in Davao. Your responsibilities include:
1. HSE Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with Maersk’s global HSE standards and local legislation.
Conduct HSE impact and risk assessments during growth and integration phases.
Act as liaison with external HSE consultants for specialized risk control.
Design and execute local HSE inspection programs aligned with country or area initiatives.
Support site Waste Coordinators with waste management, inspections, and reporting.
2. Safety Leadership & Culture Building
Advise Site Managers and Safety Champions on leading HSE initiatives and promoting a safety-first culture.
Share best practices and success stories to inspire safe behavior.
Facilitate Safety Committee meetings and coordinate HSE initiatives.
Promote Maersk’s safety policies and standards across the site.
Analyze safety and health data to develop programs that improve safety culture.
3. Incident Management & Investigation
Lead accident reporting and investigation processes.
Support root cause analysis of high-potential incidents and facilitate learning teams.
Monitor closure of findings from safety inspections and audits.
4. Operational Safety & Workplace Design
Advise on eliminating HSE risks through workplace and operational design.
Recommend controls for hazards related to installations, machinery, equipment, and tools.
Support visual management tools to engage the workforce (e.g., toolbox talks, safety learnings).
Coordinate emergency response capabilities including first aid, fire safety, and evacuation planning.
5. Training & Stakeholder Collaboration
Conduct safety training and lead toolbox meetings.
Provide HSE-related education and training upon request.
Collaborate with Operations, HR, and Procurement to ensure HSE controls for third-party labor.
We’re looking for
A safety-focused professional with the following qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an HSE Officer in a port terminal or container yard operation or logistic operation.
Certified SO3 Level HSE Officer.
Educational background in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Strong facilitation and communication skills.
Proven ability to lead safety initiatives and drive cultural change.
