Position: Head Girls Softball Coach - High School
Reports to: Principal and Athletic Director
Site: High School
FLSA: Exempt
Purpose: To organize and direct the High School Softball Team. To instruct students in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
This job description is to be used as a guide for accomplishing company and department objectives and only covers the primary functions and responsibilities of the position. It is in no way to be construed as an all-encompassing list of duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications: Valid NM PED Coaching License
Ability to organize and supervise program/team;
Preferred previous coaching experience in
assigned sport; Knowledge of technical aspects of the
assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and
examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or
coaching in general; Good role model;
Reports to: The Athletic Director, the School Principal and the Head
Coach (for Assistants);
Supervises: A staff of assistant coaches and head coaches of lower level
programs, players and managers
Job Goals: Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and
physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of
individual and team success; To provide instruction that will
lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic,
responsibility, team work, sportsmanship, self-discipline,
leadership and self-confidence;
Responsibilities: Has a thorough knowledge of all school, conference, and
NMAA athletic policies and is responsible for their
implementation; Attends all required meetings and submits
all required paperwork in a timely manner; Maintains
discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation
within the school;
Supervises practices, games and team trips; Completes required
post season forms; Communicates and works with athletic
trainer; Maintains inventory of uniforms/equipment issued;
Head Varsity Coaches
Responsibilities: Works with athletic director for scheduling and travel requests:
Organizes parents, coaches and players for pre-season meetings;
Is accountable for all equipment and uniform issuance,
collection and storage; Maintains good public relations with
media: Establish lettering criteria;
Develops procedures for keeping parents and athletes
informed; Establishes a policy with parents and players to
address issues or concerns; Updates the athletic director
frequently during season about any issues, concerns or
highlights; Works with Athletic Director to plan a post-season
awards night for specific sport.
