Job Description

Our Animal Care Technicians/Veterinary Technicians are responsible for the overall medical care and wellbeing of our furry friends.

Payment:

$20.25+/hour dependent on amenable schedule and experience plus benefits.

Benefits:

$350 per month in Health Reimbursements (covers reimbursement for dental, vision, insurance premiums, copays, medications, etc.)

Schedule:

Full-time, year-round position

5-8-hour shifts - dependent on your preference.

Day shifts: Tuesdays - Saturdays 8-4 or 10-4, you choose.

Saturdays are required but may be an abbreviated shift

No nights

Work Location:

In person at the Lakes Region Humane Society in Ossipee, NH.

Duties include:

Tending to and monitoring and recording pet behavioral/medical needs

Setting feeding plans and medicating cats and dogs as needed

Conducting wellness exams on all shelter pets; administering basic vaccinations, fecal and blood tests, inserting microchips, administering and tracking monthly flea/tick treatments, etc.

Collaborating with local veterinary hospitals to schedule surgeries, OCT's, and medical visits

Communicating medical and behavioral needs/observations to our small team of animal care technicians, veterinarians, and adopters

We are a small team of animal advocates. All LRHS team members are expected to lend a paw wherever needed and take on other tasks and projects as assigned by management. To succeed in this position, one must be reliable, hard-working, positive, kind, communicative, versatile, and patient with humans and animals alike.

Skills & Abilities

Vet. Tech. experience (this position does not require you to be licensed/certified) but certification is preferred.

Strong communication skills (written, electronic, and verbal).

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Databases.

Strong understanding of disease transmission prevention.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to safely and humanely handle large and small animals using fear-free techniques (we can train you).

Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.

Ability to navigate stairs while carrying items such 40-pound bags of litter or food (flex those meowscles!).

Ability to tolerate animal fur, dander and waste.
