Accounting Specialist (Part-Time)
The Accounting Specialist will support the financial operations of our nonprofit organization by managing day-to-day accounting tasks. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a mission-driven environment and is looking for part-time flexibility. This role is approximately 25 hours per week and will pay between $20 and $25/hr.
Responsibilities:
Process and record accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of vendor payments
Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, tracking incoming payments, and following up on outstanding balances
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and supported by documentation
Assist with monthly and year-end closings, including journal entries and account reconciliations
Support the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with program and development staff to ensure proper coding and tracking of expenses and revenues
Maintain organized financial records and assist with audit preparation
Ensure compliance with internal controls and nonprofit accounting standards
Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel
Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial practices
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Pay Details: $22.00 to $25.00 per hour
