Job Summary:

The HVAC Lead Installer is responsible for overseeing and performing the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential and commercial buildings. This role ensures that all HVAC systems are installed to the highest quality standards, meet industry codes and regulations, and are completed on schedule. As a team leader, the Lead Installer supervises and trains a team of HVAC installers, fosters a positive working environment, and ensures exceptional customer satisfaction at every stage of the installation process.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Installations

Lead and perform the installation of HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, and related components.

Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards and manufacturer specifications.

Verify proper functioning of HVAC systems through testing, troubleshooting, and final inspections.

Maintain a clean and organized job site to promote safety and efficiency.

Install HVAC systems with attention to detail, ensuring they operate at maximum efficiency and reliability.

2. Customer Satisfaction

Engage with customers professionally and respectfully, explaining the installation process, expected timelines, and system operation.

Address customer concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive customer experience from start to finish.

Perform post-installation walkthroughs with customers to confirm satisfaction and answer any questions about their new HVAC system.

Resolve any issues or complaints related to the installation process and escalate issues to management when needed.

3. Crew Leadership and Development

Lead and supervise your team of HVAC installers, providing guidance, training, and support during installations.

Delegate tasks to your team to complete jobs efficiently and on schedule.

Foster a positive, collaborative team environment that emphasizes safety, professionalism, and high-quality work.

Provide on-the-job training for junior installers and apprentices, offering constructive feedback and encouraging skill development.

Ensure the team follows all safety protocols, practices, and procedures.

4. Project Management and Coordination

Coordinate with project managers and other teams to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of HVAC projects.

Maintain accurate records of job progress, materials used, and time spent on the job.

Report any potential delays, challenges, or changes in the scope of work to the project manager or supervisor.

Ensure that all tools and materials needed for the job are properly stocked and maintained.

5. Safety and Compliance

Adhere to all workplace safety standards and ensure that team members follow appropriate safety guidelines at all times.

Report any safety hazards or unsafe practices to the appropriate authority.

Ensure that all installations are performed in compliance with HVAC codes, safety standards, and company policies.

6. Equipment and Vehicle Management

Maintain and organize installation tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are in good working order and ready for use.

Ensure company vehicles are well-maintained, clean, and stocked with necessary equipment and materials.

Report any equipment malfunctions or inventory shortages to management promptly.

Required Qualifications:

Experience Preferred: 5 years of experience in HVAC installation, including expertise in residential and commercial systems.

Certifications: Valid HVAC certification, EPA 608 certification, and any state or local licenses required.

Leadership: Proven experience in leading and mentoring a team of installers, with the ability to motivate and guide less experienced technicians.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for system installations. Strong knowledge of HVAC system components and installation techniques.

Customer Service: Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction and professionalism.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.

Clean Driving Record: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for company vehicle use.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or similar HVAC certifications.

Previous experience with complex commercial HVAC systems.

Familiarity with smart HVAC technology and control systems.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system malfunctions during or after installation.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed on job sites in both residential and commercial environments.

Must be able to work in various weather conditions and sometimes in tight spaces.

Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.

Safety equipment (gloves, goggles, hard hats, etc.) must be worn at all times on job sites.
