ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Technician to join our team on a contract basis in the Charlotte, NC area. This role involves installing, terminating, and testing low voltage cabling systems to support voice, data, security, and AV networks. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team on commercial and residential projects. APPLICANT MUST HAVE RELAIBLE TRANSPORTATION. MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL.

Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.

Perform cable routing through ceilings, walls, conduits, and pathways.

Install and configure network racks, patch panels, and cable management systems.

Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical diagrams.

Troubleshoot and repair structured cabling issues.

Maintain compliance with safety standards and building codes.

Provide daily updates to project managers or supervisors.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in low voltage cabling or structured wiring (voice, data, security, AV).

Strong knowledge of cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI preferred).

Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders, lifts, or confined spaces.

Reliable transportation to job sites across Charlotte, NC.

BICSI or related certifications a plus.

Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Contract Details

Location: Charlotte, NC (travel to various local job sites required)

Type: Contract (1099) – with potential for ongoing projects

Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (with possible overtime)

Pay Rate: $30/hr
