Function / Position Summary
Performs recruiting and provides the highest level of staffing and retention services while guiding hiring administrators and candidates through the hiring selection process. Recruitment and Retention Specialist works with senior management in developing strategies to recruit and retain a strong work focus and promotes School District U-46 as an employer of choice in the community.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Research and develop opportunities to recruit, retain, and promote a culturally diverse workforce.
Mentor hiring managers on how to evaluate candidates objectively.
Review, update, and create job descriptions, interview questions, and other hiring materials that are aligned with the district's strategic plan.
Assist with development and implementation of a Employee Recruitment & Retention Plan.
Source, network with, and proactively reach out to HBCUs and other colleges and universities to secure racially/diverse candidates, candidates with disabilities, and/or other under-represented groups.
Structure processes and policies that promote diversity and support all social groups (like anti-harassment policies).
Keep track of diversity metrics.
Assist with building administrators in developing hiring plans that provide equal opportunities to all candidates, internal and external.
Assist with the day-to-day administration of staffing in all area.
Coordinate and manage the Applicant Tracking System to ensure that end users are well versed in system features that facilitates the pre-screening applicant process for all district positions.
Coordinate and supervise the writing and placement of advertisements for recruitment purposes.
Coordinate District U-46 at job/career fairs, District and region job fairs, and other recruitment events.
Represent District U-46 at job/career/recruitment fairs and events with other members of the HR and Administration teams.
Supervise the Visa process as necessary for out of country recruitment. When applicable, work with ISBE representatives regarding their teacher exchange programs.
Manage and support the District's Strategic Plan in relation to the Diversity recruitment focus and goals.
Assist with the staffing reporting and data management with district position control efforts.
Assist with state reporting related to recruitment and vacancy reporting.
Conduct offboarding interviews with resigning or retraining employees, tracking reasons for voluntary terminations to inform future HR recruitment strategies.
Track and report statistics and other employment-related data on applicants, prospects, and employees to management and outside agencies as directed.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for recruitment and retention efforts and track progress regularly.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Assist with the handling of human rights and EEO complaints.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Human Resources or a related field preferred Experience / Knowledge
Minimum of two years' experience in employee recruitment, training, or employee career coaching required.
Bilingual Spanish/English Required.
Understand employee evaluation processes.
Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to review and evaluate operating procedures and recommend improvements.
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance, adopted and pending requirements affecting employee recruitment and retention.
Ability to work in a culturally diverse setting.
Ability to maintain a positive demeanor. Physical Demands

This is a 12-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
The salary range for this position is $60,243.00 - $90,353.00. Our typical practice is to hire in between the minimum and midpoint ($75,298.00).
