SAP Finance Solution Architect – FICO

Location: Oshawa, ON (Hybrid, 2 days remote) Hours: 40/week

Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking an experienced SAP Finance Solution Architect – FICO to lead the design, configuration, and delivery of end-to-end financial processes within our S/4HANA ERP transformation program.

This role blends solution architecture, business advisory, and finance domain expertise. You will play a critical part in enabling record-to-report, planning, consolidation, and enterprise performance management, while ensuring compliance, seamless integration, and alignment with OPG’s enterprise architecture and digital transformation goals.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Delivery

Lead solution architecture, design, and configuration for SAP FICO, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Bank Accounting, Cost/Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), and Project Systems (PS).

Configure advanced finance capabilities (e.g., parallel ledgers, intercompany eliminations, tax localization, and profit center hierarchies).

Ensure strong integration with MM, SD, PP, EAM, and HR modules to deliver seamless end-to-end processes.

Translate business requirements into SAP-enabled solutions through fit-gap analysis, blueprinting, and agile project delivery.

Design financial reporting and analytics using SAP Fiori, SAP Analytics Cloud, embedded analytics, and BW/4HANA.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure financial processes meet regulatory, audit, and tax localization requirements (IFRS, GAAP, SOX, ICOFR).

Lead master data management, data migration, and data quality initiatives in partnership with business owners.

Collaborate with technical teams (ABAP, NetWeaver, integration) to deliver enhancements, interfaces, and reporting solutions.

Leadership & Collaboration

Mentor and guide project team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Deliver training, documentation, and change management support for finance and business teams.

Partner with enterprise architects, project managers, and functional leads to validate solution design and ensure scalability.

Continuous Improvement

Provide post-go-live support, troubleshooting, and optimization of SAP FICO solutions.

Contribute to continuous innovation and digital transformation through SAP BTP, extensibility, and best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, IT, or related field (advanced degree preferred).

10+ years of SAP FICO experience, with at least 2 full-cycle S/4HANA implementations.

Strong expertise in financial close, planning, consolidation, and multi-entity regulatory reporting.

Proven experience with SAP Fiori, NetWeaver, embedded analytics, and integration with MM, SD, PP, EAM, HR.

Knowledge of SAP Activate, agile methodologies, and data governance.

Experience in regulated, asset-intensive, or utilities industries is an asset.

Excellent advisory, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Certifications

SAP Certified Application Associate – Financial Accounting with SAP S/4HANA (or equivalent).

Additional certifications in SAP S/4HANA, project management (PMP, Scrum), or analytics (e.g., SAP Analytics Cloud) are highly valued.

Certifications in data governance (e.g., CDMP) or cloud data engineering (AWS, Azure, Google) are an asset.
