FinOps Product Owner – Azure Cloud
Location: Hybrid (3 days remote, onsite at 889 Brock Road Pickering or Oshawa on rotating schedule)
About the Role
We are seeking a FinOps Product Owner – Azure Cloud to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of financial operations initiatives for our Microsoft Azure environment. This role will act as the bridge between engineering, finance, procurement, and business stakeholders, driving cloud cost optimization, financial transparency, and accountability across the organization.
You will own the FinOps product roadmap, manage the backlog, and deliver actionable insights that maximize the value of Azure investments. This is a highly visible role that champions FinOps best practices and helps shape the future of our cloud financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership: Define and maintain the FinOps product backlog in Azure DevOps, prioritizing features and user stories by business value and technical feasibility.
Strategic Roadmap: Develop and deliver a product roadmap aligned with Azure cloud strategy and organizational objectives.
Data & Analytics: Oversee ETL processes to aggregate, clean, and transform Azure cost and usage data, ensuring accuracy in reporting and dashboards.
Insights & Reporting: Drive the design of actionable dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into Azure spend, usage, and optimization opportunities.
Cost Optimization: Partner with engineering, finance, and procurement to develop cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting, chargeback, and governance processes.
FinOps Advocacy: Promote cloud financial accountability and FinOps best practices across the enterprise.
Vendor Engagement: Collaborate with Microsoft and third-party vendors to leverage cost management tools, programs, and discounts.
Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial policies, regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to cloud expenditures.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Master’s degree or certifications (FinOps Certified Practitioner, Microsoft Azure) are strong assets.
Experience
3+ years in product management, cloud financial management, cloud operations, or related field.
Proven expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services, billing, and cost management.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for backlog and agile project management.
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical and financial concepts into actionable insights.
Skilled in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
