EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students and employees through the proper training and monitoring of bus drivers QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class B)

Texas Education Agency School Bus Driver Certificate SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Must pass alcohol and drug test

Must pass the D.P.S. Medical Examination Report for school bus drivers. (Dated no earlier than June 1 of the present year)

Possess an acceptable driving record in according to the Texas Education Agency and the Department of Public Safety.

Must be 21 years of age.

Acceptable driving record according to the Texas Education Agency standards.

Possess full range of motion in hands, arms, and trunk.

Refueling pumps, safety and first aide equipment EXPERIENCE:

Must have driven a school bus for at least three years. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Training or retraining bus drivers.

Keeping track of fuel and operation of fuel bay.

Takes work orders from the mechanics and enters them into the RTA database.

Fuel readings...day to day duty.

Staff development of monitors concerning preventable accidents

Oversee safety and first aid equipment.

Assist with daily driver dispatch and handles some calls from the community on bus operations when needed.

Manages the vehicle parts ordering system (RTA).

Develop a fuel tracking ordering process in the event the trainer is absent.

Fuel readings are reported and report filled out by the trainer.

Assist with dispatching route duties if necessary.

Monitoring all CDL certifications of bus drivers.

Perform other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mental Demands:

Maintain emotional control in stressful situations.

Reading and comprehending instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Physical demands/environmental factors:

Continuous sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions.

Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Operating motor vehicle.

Moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (hot).
