Job Objective: This position is primarily responsible for ensuring all the workflows of the Revenue Cycle are efficient and accurate by providing continual guidance, education, and functional support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions1:

• Monitors, and performs as necessary, aspects of the Revenue Cycle process, to include tasks required of, but not limited to members of the Revenue Cycle Team:

o Medical Billing Customer Service Representative

o Insurance Verification and Prior Authorization Specialist

o Revenue Cycle AR Follow-up Specialist

o Biller I & Biller II

o Payment Poster

o Collections Specialist

• Acts as a resource for Revenue Cycle questions

• Monitors work flow of the Revenue Cycle Team to ensure accuracy and ensure necessary deadlines are met

• Conducts training for new hires and provides on-going training

• Maintains knowledge of third-party filing and regulatory billing and coding requirements

• Batches patient statements timely and regularly for charges not covered by insurance

• Acts as a backup for completing tasks required of members of the Revenue Cycle Team

• Collaborates with internal departments and external resources to ensure efficient processes and timely and accurate transactions

• Independently investigates issues and takes action to resolve

• Proactively provides quality customer service, including interacting with patients, providers, and co-workers to effectively handle concerns

• Maintains frequent and open communication with the Revenue Cycle Supervisor regarding the progress of the team and actions taken

• Reports issues to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor in a timely manner

• Identifies trends and makes recommendations to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor to encourage best practices and mitigate repeat issues

• Provides input to Revenue Cycle Supervisor on employee competency and performance

• Assists with related special projects as required

• Recommends and monitors KPI's.

• Leads employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment

• Sustains a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and working effectively as a team

• Other duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Functions:

• Attend meetings and training sessions

• Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information by utilizing HIPAA guidelines and regulations

• Maintain knowledge and adhere to related governmental regulations and all policies set forth by Ohio Gastroenterology Group Inc and its related parties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of third-party payers and prior-authorization requirements

• Understanding of basic medical terminology and procedures

• Working knowledge using ICD-10 and CPT codes

• Working knowledge of medical billing for office visits and procedures in an ASC and hospital setting

• Proficient use of office equipment, such as copier and fax machine, phones, etc.

• Intermediate computer skills including use of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), electronic mail, payer websites, physician practice management, and electronic medical records systems.

• High attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

• Strong time management skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple priorities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people under stressful circumstances.

• Neat appearance, professional demeanor and pleasant voice

• Fluent in English

Credentials and Experience

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent

• Prior supervisory experience or proven leadership skills

• Three (3) years or more of gastroenterology medical billing, coding, and/or AR follow-up

• Experience with hospital billing and systems

• Experience with eClinicalWorks a plus

Physical Demands

• Must be able to bend over (frequent), climb stairs (frequent), sit (frequent), stand (frequent), stoop (frequent), walk (frequent) and type on keyboard (frequent).

Work Environment

• Minimal medical office exposure that may require contact with adult patients

• Office workstation environment with numerous employees
