Position Overview:
The accounting associate will be primarily responsible for reinsurance accounting, reporting, transaction analysis, ongoing process improvements and other tasks as they present themselves.
Under moderate supervision and following standard procedures with some independent judgement, compute, classify, record, and verify numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform monthly and/or quarterly closing procedures, including preparing and executing reinsurance journal entries, relevant account reconciliations, and analyses or results.
Review treaty documentation: verify information complies with terms and conditions of treaties.
Compile and track reinsurance payable/receivable balances.
Serve as accounting support for reinsurance brokers.
Maintain effective internal controls, support internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations.
May serve as support associate for investment accounting, bank reconciliation, and/or fixed asset accounting.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Intermediate knowledge of a personal computer, including Microsoft Office applications.
