We're looking for a Hobby Toys Buyer to join our team and help shape the product lineup that inspires builders, collectors, and creators. You'll source the coolest hobby toys, negotiate with vendors, and ensure our customers always find the next must-have item online and in-store.

Toy and Hobbies Buyer

The Toys & Hobbies Buyer is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing products for AMain's toys and hobbies assortment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring we have the right products at the right time, at the right cost, to meet both customer demand and business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for market trends, strong negotiation skills, and a passion for toys, hobbies, and collectibles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Selection & Purchasing

Identify and source new products, brands, and vendors that enhance AMain's toys and hobbies assortment.

Place purchase orders, monitor order flow, and manage replenishment to maintain optimal inventory levels.

Stay on top of industry and consumer trends to recommend timely product additions. Vendor & Supplier Relations

Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and distributors.

Negotiate pricing, terms, and promotional opportunities to maximize margin and profitability.

Partner with suppliers on exclusives, new product launches, and co-marketing opportunities. Inventory & Financial Management

Monitor inventory levels, sell-through rates, and product lifecycle performance.

Collaborate with Inventory Planning to ensure balance between stock availability and cost efficiency.

Work closely with Category Manager to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turn goals. Collaboration & Execution

Partner with Marketing on promotions, seasonal assortments, and product launches.

Provide product knowledge and support to internal teams including Customer Experience and Retail Stores.

Maintain accurate product data, pricing, and vendor records.

Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related field (or equivalent experience).

2-4 years of buying, procurement, or merchandising experience (toys, hobbies, or consumer goods preferred).

Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Proficiency in Excel and ability to analyze sales/inventory reports.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple priorities.

Passion for toys, hobbies, or collectibles is a strong plus!

JOB CONDITIONS:

Repetitive office working including typing, using a computer mouse and telephone.

Moderate noise - Office environment with computers, printers and light traffic.
