FTE: Hourly as needed. This is not a position with guaranteed hours of work.
PURPOSE
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to teachers serving exceptional children throughout the district by administering standardized academic assessments as part of the eligibility process for special education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary role of the special education tester is to provide support to the special education personnel serving exceptional children ages 3-21, though the bulk of work will be with students in grades K-12.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Administer and score a variety of educational individually administered academic assessment instruments for district students, age 3-21.
Follow fundamental principles of assessment procedures, including
establish and maintain rapport with students,
elicit optimum performance,
follow standardized administration procedures,
score assessment and communicate results to case manager
determine test procedure validity and report any testing irregularities or anomalies; maintain test security
?Work with district personnel and teachers to develop an appropriate schedule that reflects the various aspects of the job and meets the needs of students and buildings.
?Communicate observations made during test administration
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Provide training in the use of standardized assessments for new staff when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current or previous Idaho Teaching Credential - Exceptional Child or equivalent certification from another state. (If credential is expired, provide evidence of the most recent credential. A revoked credential will not be accepted.)
Training and knowledge in the fundamental principles of assessment procedures
Evidence of experience administering and interpreting individually administered assessment instruments
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Ability to operate independently or as a member of a team.
Ability to take initiative and identify what needs to be done.
Solid organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Must have a valid Idaho Driver's license and a vehicle to drive and/or must provide own transportation for job related activities
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and on the telephone;
Sufficient visual acuity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents;
Sufficient manual dexterity with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to operate standard office equipment and a personal computer;
Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to lift up to 20 pounds, to sit and work at a keyboard for an extended period of time, and work in an office environment. EVALUATION
