Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of a private club's operations, including golf, membership sales and promotion, food and beverage, retail, course maintenance, facilities, and human resources. This role emphasizes service excellence, financial accountability, and sustaining the Membership by Invitation culture.
The General Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, business and financial acumen, membership promotion success, and the ability to manage high-performing teams. They will build effective partnerships with Members and Boards of Governors while maintaining loyalty to ownership and organizational objectives.
The General Manager reports to the Regional Vice President of Private Club Operations.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field.
5 years' experience as a Private Club General Manager or senior hospitality leadership.
Demonstrated success in leadership, sales management, and financial performance.
Skills & Qualifications
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and capital/resource planning.
Strong HR leadership, including recruiting, training, and performance management. Ability to delegate and empower team members, while keeping them accountable.
Knowledge of golf operations, facilities management, food & beverage, and event planning.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Project/construction management experience preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
Maintain Elite Waitlist status through retention and our Membership by Invitation process.
Prepare, implement, and monitor operating and capital budgets.
Direct daily operations across all departments to maintain service excellence.
Oversee development of member programs, activities, and events.
Serve as liaison to the Board of Governors and Ambassador Committees.
Recruit, train, and coach staff and department managers.
Maintain facilities to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Represent the Club with civic and community organizations.
Work Requirements
Schedule may be required to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Indoor and outdoor work; exposure to varied weather/turf conditions.
Some travel required for regional meetings and annual conferences.
