As a Cost Assistant, you will support the Cost Manager and commercial team in executing and updating cost estimates, tracking project financials, and maintaining accurate cost control documentation. You will consolidate data from multiple disciplines, monitor KPIs, and assist in reporting against the cost baseline. Your role will be key in ensuring financial transparency, supporting decision-making, and maintaining alignment with project objectives.

You'll Be Responsible For:

Assisting in the execution and regular update of project cost estimates.

Consolidating cost-related information from various disciplines and stakeholders.

Maintaining and update key performance indicators (KPIs), including financial ratios and efficiency metrics.

Supporting the preparation of cost status reports comparing actuals against the baseline.

Monitoring and analyzing monthly project costs, identifying variances and trends.

Tracking each supplier’s performance and cost alignment with the approved baseline.

Assisting in the evaluation of change orders, claims, and cost gaps.

Reviewing contractor valuations, including amortizations and progress payments.

Preparing cost-related meeting minutes, presentations, and documentation.

Ensuring accurate cost reporting and proper record-keeping in line with project.

You’ll Need To Have:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.

Proficiency in Excel for cost tracking, pivot tables, and financial analysis.

Understanding of cost breakdown structures (CBS), work breakdown structures (WBS), and earned value principles.

Familiarity with cost control tools or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).

Ability to maintain cost baselines and monitor performance against them.

Awareness of financial compliance, audit readiness, and documentation standards.

Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to align cost data with planning and construction.

Leadership and behavioural qualities.

You'll Also Have:

Experience in a junior or support role in cost control, quantity surveying, or commercial management.

Exposure to cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting in construction or infrastructure projects.

Familiarity with reviewing contractor valuations and supporting claim evaluations.

Ability to consolidate and analyze financial data from multiple sources.

Experience preparing cost reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and client use.

Participation in relevant training or coursework in cost management, project finance, or commercial control.

Professional certification (e.g., RICS, AACE, PMI) is a plus.
