Associate Professional Practice Professor or Professional Practice Professor

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications for a Professional Practice Professor candidate at the Associate Professor or Professor level appointment in the area of Manufacturing Engineering.

The ideal candidate will be able to teach a variety of topics in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum related to the professional practice of Manufacturing Engineering. The position is teaching focused, however, the successful candidate will also be expected to perform scholarly activity in a related area of interest, such as novel curriculum development, engineering education, or another research area consistent with their background and the professional practice of Manufacturing Engineering. Sponsorship will be offered if an international candidate is selected.

The final offer for this position will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Salary and start-up packages are negotiated by the department chair and may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Attachment 3: Teaching Statement. Write 1-2 pages, single spaced narrative that includes: a personal vision for teaching and learning; a description of teaching strategies or approaches for which you received training or have implemented; a justification for those strategies, focusing on evidence-based practice, highlighting how to achieve an effective learning environment for all students regardless of their backgrounds, expectations, and needs; a statement of your approaches, experience and philosophy regarding your teaching, learning, and mentoring.

Attachment 4: Scholarly Activity Statement. Write 1-2 pages, single spaced narrative that includes: the focus of your scholarly activity and how it supports and complements the teaching activities of this position; the alignment of your scholarly activity with either the Educator or Practitioner pathway within MAE; identify potential collaborations and funding resources; broader impacts of your research (the potential to benefit society and contribute to the achievement of specific, desired societal outcomes); plan for student engagement in your scholarly activities.

Attachment 5: Mentoring Statement. Write 1-2 pages, single spaced narrative that includes: your mentoring philosophy; describe previous mentoring training and/or experience; state mentoring skills you consider fundamental, include those necessary to effectively mentor students from all cultural backgrounds.
