Description:
We are seeking an energetic and knowledgeable secretary in Garfield Heights City Schools District. In this role, you will support the Administrator. Responsibilities include providing support to staff; typing letters of recommendation, memos to staff and/or parents, notices of student fines; designs and creates forms. Maintains confidential records, evaluations, emergency cards, and files for staff.
To ensure success as a secretary, you should possess excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in a secretarial role. Outstanding secretaries are highly organized in performing a wide array of administrative duties.
Essential Functions:
Implement office procedures which assure efficient assistance to students, parents, teachers, and administrators
Serve as immediate support to the principal
Prepare correspondence, schedules, programs, trainings as required
Oversee and maintain various student information systems
Assist with tracking students and creating reports as requested
Prints forms, brochures, and booklets as directed
Prepares local, state, or federal reports as needed
Maintain records and files as required
Update and maintain student and staff database and updates information for programs like automatic call service or website
Maintain student records for things such as home instruction, health concerns, etc
Assist to insure all student and staff information is accurate
Assist in areas of school need
Perform receptionist duties
Prepares letters, reports, requisitions, and other documents; proof-read for accuracy
Oversee substitute staff for absent employees
Insure school website is up to date and accurate
Performs routine office duties
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Training and/or experience, which evidences a basic knowledge of word processing, secretarial duties, and communication skills (verbal and written)
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
