Description
Divisional Operations Manager
A Divisional Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of a division of a mortgage department within a lending institution, encompassing the entire loan lifecycle from application to closing and beyond. This role demands strong leadership, in-depth knowledge of mortgage lending, regulatory compliance expertise, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Key responsibilities
· Key responsibilities include supervising and managing mortgage operations staff, overseeing the loan pipeline, assisting with workload, and addressing personnel issues.
· They are also responsible for managing post-application operations like closing, developing efficient workflows, identifying process improvements, and leveraging technology.
· Ensuring compliance with regulations, conducting quality control reviews, ongoing training to operational staff on requirements, and reviewing data.
· Instrumental in providing process improvements and efficiencies: Identifying and implementing strategies to streamline operations, reducing turnaround times, and enhance overall efficiency and quality
· Monitoring performance, preparing reports, and tracking goals are also part of the role.
· Collaboration with management, internal departments and external partners is essential for customer satisfaction.
· Ensuring regulatory compliance: Staying abreast of and adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and internal policies, including those related to the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, and SAFE Act.
· Reporting and analysis: Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
· Technology utilization: Ensuring effective use of Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and other mortgage-related technologies
Qualifications
Required qualifications
· Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is often preferred or required or equivalent mortgage experience.
· Experience: Generally, a minimum of 10 years in mortgage operations and at least 5 years of supervisory experience are needed, with some roles requiring experience in credit analysis or underwriting.
· Skills: Essential skills include strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. In-depth knowledge of mortgage processes, regulations, and compliance is necessary. Proficiency with mortgage software and strong organizational skills are also important.
