This role involves assessing, planning, and implementing care for patients in inpatient or outpatient psychiatric settings, promoting mental wellness, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n\n Patient Assessment and Care:\n\nConduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including evaluating emotional, cognitive, and behavioral functioning.\nDevelop individualized care plans based on patient needs, in collaboration with the healthcare team.\nMonitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.\nAdminister medications and monitor for side effects, documenting responses appropriately.\n\n\n\n Crisis Intervention:\n\nRespond to psychiatric emergencies, such as suicidal ideation, aggressive behavior, or severe anxiety.\nImplement de-escalation techniques and therapeutic interventions to ensure patient and staff safety.\nCoordinate with the crisis response team when necessary.\n\n\n\n Therapeutic Communication and Support:\n\nEstablish trusting relationships with patients to facilitate open communication.\nProvide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families.\nFacilitate group therapy sessions or educational workshops on mental health topics, as applicable.\n\n\n\n Collaboration and Coordination:\n\nWork closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.\nServe as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and needs are respected.\nAssist in discharge planning, connecting patients with community resources or outpatient services.\n\n\n\n Safety and Compliance:\n\nMaintain a safe environment by following protocols for high-risk patients, including suicide precautions and restraint use.\nDocument patient care accurately and in compliance with legal and ethical standards.\nStay current on best practices in psychiatric nursing and maintain knowledge of mental health laws.\n\n\n\n\nQualifications:\n\nLicensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state.\nEducation: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.\nCertifications:\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) certification.\nCrisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification\nPsychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (RN-BC) preferred.\n\n\n Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID #34123501.
