Job Title: Principal Electrical Engineer – Nuclear

Overview
We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of major nuclear projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex assignments, supporting the UK’s nuclear and energy transition sectors. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality design solutions, guiding junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist electrical input on projects and proposals, including drafting, reviewing, and approving engineering documentation
Mentor and support junior engineers and graduates to build technical capability within the team
Deliver electrical engineering outputs that meet budget, schedule, and quality standards
Ensure all designs comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, and client requirements
Prepare specifications and requisitions for electrical equipment including HV/LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, and associated installations
Requirements
Extensive experience in electrical engineering within the nuclear sector
Strong knowledge of design processes, installation standards, and UK legislation
Skilled in compliance with CE marking requirements (ATEX, PED, LVD, Machinery, EMC) and nuclear plant installation standards
Degree-qualified in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards professional registration)
Security cleared (or eligible), with expertise in risk management, HSE, and regulatory compliance
