Job Description
Ohio Wesleyan University a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus, is seeking dynamic, skilled candidates for the position of GMT Building Trades. This is a Fulltime, hourly position.
This position reports directly to the Building Trades Supervisor and is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, improvements, and/or alterations of the University’s general building systems.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Inspect, install, maintain, and repair general building systems such as: doors and door hardware, walls, floors, ceilings, windows and window treatments, roofs, cabinets, furniture, chalk/bulletin boards, paint, concrete, masonry, and signs.
Minor lock repair and installation.
Aid in the implementation of the preventative/corrective maintenance program.
Assist in maintaining supply/inventory levels.
Reports work rule and safety violations to the supervisor.
Helps to coordinate and supervise outside contractors/vendors who provide contractual support for the building trades department functions, such as: roofing, window repair, painting, flooring, cabinetry, concrete, masonry, and signs.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Trades Supervisor.
Requirements/qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years rough and finish carpentry experience.
Broad-based background and knowledge of all general building trades with an emphasis on carpentry.
Skill in communicating effectively.
Skill in record keeping.
Knowledge of National, State, and Local installation, operation, and safety codes for the general building trades.
The individual must also:
A valid Ohio driver’s license.
Be able to lift weights common to the trade.
Be able to work at heights common to the trade.
Be on emergency call-in rotation schedule.
