Salary: $30 per hour

Lead Promotora/or Comunitaria/o

Location: San Fernando Valley area

Wage: $30.00 per hour

Position Status: Regular, Full Time

Effective Date: September 2025 (ending on or before August 31, 2026)

Location: The person in this position works full-time from different worksites in the San Fernando Valley area.

Required Travel: Ability to travel locally and up to 100 miles throughout the San Fernando Valley.

Schedule: 40 hours per week. Variable work schedule including shifts on weekends and evenings.

Position Summary

Visin y Compromiso (VyC) is dedicated to improving community health and well-being. We are seeking a compassionateLead Promotora Comunitaria / Promotor Comunitarioto be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and supporting the projects work plans while providing support to the team of Promotoras/es to meet projected goals and deliver reports in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

Understand and follow the work plan provided by the Program Manager.

Communicate to the team the daily plan of activities provided by the Program Manager.

Maintain consistent communication with the Program Manager regarding all pertinent activities assigned.

Budget and Resource Management:

Understand the requirements and restrictions for specific line items outlined in the project budget (e.g., printing, outreach materials, office supplies, and equipment) and work to meet these.

Communicate to the Program Manager any potential budget issues.

Regularly review and update program resources to ensure they are current and facilitate successful referrals for program participants.

Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain and organize all reports created by the team and provide them to the Program Manager.

Report emergencies or other issues that occur in the field to the Program Manager.

Logistics and Support:

Transport equipment and supplies needed by the team for day-to-day and event activities.

Provide technical or logistical support to the team for virtual platforms and in-person outreach.

External and Community Engagement:

Participate in meetings with funders and project sponsoring entities as required by the Program Manager.

Provide the team with referrals to additional resources in support of community needs.

Qualifications:

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years experience working with community-based direct services with under-resourced communities or communities of color.

A minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting outreach and providing community health education.

A minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience within a team specifically focused on outreach and education activities OR a minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated leadership experience in a general capacity, showcasing the ability to effectively lead teams in various contexts.

Skills

Ability to collaborate closely and across all VyC departments with a wide range of staff, community members, partner agencies, and funders.

Understanding of the Promotora Model or other community leadership models and their role in creating health equity, nationally and internationally.

Demonstrated verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail, organizational abilities, and effective establishment of priorities

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general reports, procedures, or regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups, and the public. Because of the population served, the ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish is required.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet Explorer or other widely used and supported Internet browsers as well as proficiency with social media platforms like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Valid Drivers License or the ability to utilize a reliable alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

Valid automobile liability insurance required if driving.

Physical Demands:

Ability to move between multiple work environments, remaining stationary up to 50% of the time.

Must be able to lift outreach materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

Primarily field-based, traveling to community locations including libraries, community centers, and schools.

Exposure to outdoor elements while engaging with community members.
