About the Role:

The Deckhand/Unlicensed Engineer plays a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of Bordelon Marine Vessel Operations. This position involves a combination of deckhand duties and engineering support, ensuring that all vessel operations run smoothly. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the vessel's equipment and assisting with navigation and safety protocols. This role requires a strong commitment to teamwork and communication, as collaboration with other crew members is essential for success. Ultimately, the Deckhand/Unlicensed Engineer contributes to the overall mission of providing high-quality marine services while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Basic knowledge of marine operations and safety protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working on marine vessels or in a related field.

Basic mechanical skills or knowledge of engine operations.

Certifications in safety training (e.g., STCW, First Aid).

Responsibilities:

Assist in the daily operations of the vessel, including deck maintenance and cleaning.

Support the unlicensed engineering team in monitoring and maintaining machinery and equipment.

Participate in safety drills and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Help with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper securing and handling.

Communicate effectively with the captain and other crew members to ensure smooth operations.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include strong communication and teamwork abilities, which are essential for coordinating with other crew members during operations. Basic mechanical skills will be utilized daily to assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of vessel machinery. Attention to detail is critical when performing safety checks and ensuring compliance with regulations.
