Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the part-time, temporary OPS position of Assistant Textbook Adoption and Affordability Coordinator. This position plays a vital role in supporting textbook accuracy and affordability for UF students. This position ensures that textbook adoptions are complete, accurate, and accessible by reviewing submissions, collaborating with instructors to resolve issues, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Through this work, the coordinator helps improve the student experience and advance UF’s commitment to student success and equitable access to course materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Review textbook adoptions for accuracy, including details such as ISBNs, editions, publishers, and availability.

Communicate directly with instructors to clarify and resolve discrepancies or incomplete adoptions.

Verify that materials labeled as free or available through the UF Libraries are properly documented and accessible to students.

Identify and flag cost-saving opportunities, such as library e-book access or open educational resources.

Support the evaluation of courses for Affordable UF and Zero Textbook Cost designations.

Track and follow up with course sections missing textbook adoptions or those not aligned with syllabi.

Collaborate with the Textbook Affordability Coordinator and Scholarly Communications Librarian to generate reports and analyze affordability data.

Assist with special projects and initiatives related to textbook affordability and student access.

Provide occasional support for other Center for Teaching Excellence programs and initiatives.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred:

Experience working in higher education, particularly in academic affairs, libraries, or instructional support services.

Knowledge of textbook publishing, course materials, or open educational resources (OER). · Familiarity with textbook affordability initiatives and cost-reduction strategies for students.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience organizing and interpreting data.

Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, or reporting tools for tracking and analyzing information.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

This is a part-time position; 10-15 hours per week.
