We are currently looking for an experienced HVAC Technician, specific for service and construction on Big Island (Mauna Loa NOAA Facility), Hawaii, to join a young innovative company in the service industry.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The HVAC Technician is responsible for profitably managing various accounts, administrative and field construction activities related to the assigned project. This HVAC Technician is also responsible to establish and maintain successful relationships with all stakeholders on his/her projects. Also, is capable of managing small– medium sized projects independently. This HVAC Technician will typically report directly to the V/P of EPC.
Essential Functions
To perform this role effectively, an individual must be able to satisfactorily carry out each of the duties outlined above. The following qualifications represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for success as an HVAC Technician:
Ability to read and interpret HVAC blueprints accurately.
Knowledge of and adherence to HVAC codes and regulations as established by the State of Hawaii and the U.S. government.
Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions, as well as in preparing reports and documentation.
Skilled in assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems.
Ability to test HVAC systems for efficiency and performance.
Experience with the maintenance and repair of both commercial and residential HVAC units.
Capability to remove and replace outdated or nonfunctional units.
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and educational programs.
Commitment to high-quality workmanship and professional standards.
Strong organizational skills and a dedicated work ethic.
Willingness to travel and work evenings, weekends, or night shifts as required.
Required Experience
Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in the HVAC industry.
Possession of personal HVAC tools.
Proven ability to perform comprehensive preventative maintenance on both large commercial and residential HVAC systems.
Highly responsible and capable of working independently without the need for close supervision.
Technologically proficient, with working knowledge of PCs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with estimating and/or scheduling software is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Able to perform under pressure and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
Self-motivated, dependable, positive attitude, and a strong team-oriented mindset.
Possession of a valid Hawaii driver’s license and a clean driving record, with no major violations.
Educational Requirements
High school and trade school required.
Required Licenses and Certificates
An active and in Good Standing HVAC license and/or Electrical license(s) or other are a plus.
Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen, and be eligible to receive a Federal Security Clearance (candidates with an active Federal Security Clearance are preferred).
Working Conditions
Position requires flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including nights, graveyard shifts, and 24/7 availability as needed. Responsibilities may include managing, inspecting, coordinating, and performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work is performed in active service and construction site environments.
Moderate to low overtime is expected throughout the year; however, a high volume of overtime may be required during project closeout phases, depending on schedule adherence.
Willingness and availability to travel, as well as work on weekends and during nighttime hours, may be necessary.
Safety Hazards
Many hazards. Construction type hazards and General office working conditions.
Required Physical Abilities
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs without assistance.
Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
Comfortable working in confined spaces, on rooftops, in crawl spaces, and in other tight or elevated environments.
Willing and able to work outdoors in Hawaii’s diverse and changing weather conditions.
Sufficient manual dexterity to safely and effectively operate tools and equipment.
Ability to properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Medical clearance for working at high altitudes is required.
