Purpose of the Position

An Electrical Trades Instructor plays a vital role in fulfilling the school's mission and objectives. This involves teaching electrical trade courses, providing mentorship, and evaluating student performance. By delivering engaging lessons and offering personalized guidance, the instructor ensures students achieve academic success and personal growth, contributing to a successful academic program and the overall development of each student.

What you’ll do:

Deliver Centralized Curriculum:

Provide comprehensive instruction for courses within the specified program.

Collaborate with the Program Director/Director of Education to contribute to course development, including creating course descriptions, syllabi, reviewing textbooks, and evaluating equipment.

Regularly update these plans to incorporate new teaching methods and address students' needs, ensuring lessons remain effective and engaging.

Engage Students:

Create a classroom environment that promotes academic growth and professional development.

Keep the DOE informed about student progress, including academic performance and attendance, especially if there are trends that could hinder educational foundations (using academic advisement and early warning forms).

Offer additional support to students struggling with coursework.

Monitor Student Progress:

Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance.

Advise students with minor issues affecting their education.

Grade and return quizzes, tests, and lab assignments promptly within 48 hours, and ensure final grades are submitted within 48 hours after the term ends.

Support Student Success:

Utilize instructional and audiovisual aids, and all available online resources.

Demonstrate the use of community resources by arranging guest speakers, field trips, and class participation in community service events.

Enhance the curriculum as needed by creating assignments, worksheets, notes, tests, answer keys, and activities.

Maintain Professionalism:

Adhere to policies, maintain an up-to-date faculty file, and communicate effectively with program leadership and students per established expectations and timelines.

Pursue professional growth by attending in-service training, continuing education seminars, and faculty meetings.

Required Skills/Experience:

High school diploma/GED required

3 years of verifiable experience directly related to residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work, alarm systems, control systems or a combination of these areas.

Prior teaching experience preferred but not required

Compliance:

Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.

Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This is an on-campus position with occasional remote work.

A home office set up, quiet place to work, and ability to hard wire into high-speed internet connection may be required.
