The Role

Sofina Foods is looking for a talented Interim Financial Controller (12 months FTC) to take ownership of the finance function at our highly successful, European-leading sous-vide production site. This is a key role within our rapidly expanding Irish consumer foods business, providing financial governance and supporting the site as a centre of excellence within Sofina.

Reporting to the Finance Director (Value Add Pork), you’ll work closely with operations, site management, and central commercial and finance teams to ensure the financial impact of all operational and commercial decisions is understood and managed effectively. Leading the site finance team, you’ll drive best practice, benchmark performance, and support strategies for growth and profitability.

Please note that this role is a fixed term contract for 12 months (maternity cover), and is based full time onsite in Fethard.

Summary

Lead the finance function at our European-leading sous-vide production site in Ireland

Your Key Responsibilities

Act as a key partner to the Finance Director, Operations Director, and site management team

Share and adopt best practice by collaborating with Sofina finance leads across sites

Support strategic growth while maximising shareholder returns

Lead working capital planning and improve site cash flow performance

Provide financial governance in line with IFRS, ensuring accurate reporting and records

Reconcile and audit financial control information for site, business unit, and group reporting

Assess the financial impact of commercial and operational matters, maximising category performance

Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems

Lead, motivate, and develop the site finance team, ensuring objectives, reviews, and development plans are in place

Represent your site at functional meetings in our European Head Office in Malton (2 -3 days per month)

The Ideal Candidate

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent with post qualification experience.

FMCG finance experience within food manufacturing (preferably, fresh, chilled, frozen).

Progressive track record of successfully operating at director/controller level within a food environment.

Previous experience of managing senior financial personnel.

Strong IT and systems knowledge with a skill set to effectively implement financial software projects.

Strong communication skills with the capability to communicate confidently internally and externally.

Good team working skills.

Able to work within an agreed established framework and cope with pressure, taking responsibility for decisions and owning the account plans

Strong attention to detail and ability to report accurately

Demonstrable skills of managing and developing a team

High levels of professionalism, integrity and ethical awareness

Determined and resilient, with the drive to complete tasks

Excellent analytical and numeric skills together with the ability to identify and interpret market trends

Preferred experience:

FMCG finance experience within the meat industry
