Position: Electrician Location: Virginia Beach, VA Duration: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire Shifts: Day and Night Shifts Pay Rate: Up to $39.00/hour (Depending on experience)
Roles & Responsibilities
Work 40 hour work week, overtime as required
Install new or modified electrical installations consistent with local and national codes.
Plan electrical installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring
Follow diagrams, blueprints and interrupt specifications
Application and knowledge of journeyman electrician level skills in the installation and repair of electrical systems and associated activities which may include the application of some mechanical knowledge to diagnose repair needs for air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, or other equipment as necessary.
Perform any and all work tasks and comply with any work schedules, attendance or duty requirements which may be established by City or Department Rules.
Perform related work as assigned or specified in project drawings, customer specification or project requirement.
Manage the cleanliness and organization of the Electrical Shop and main facility
Some Travel to job sites when needed
Maintain all work sites clean and in order
Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of equipment and tools
Complete all required paperwork
Work from all types of step ladders, frame ladders and all size extension ladders.
Adhere to all safe work procedures as outlined in the Acoustical Sheetmetal Employee Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, and Lockout/Tag out Policy and Confined Space policy
Attend educational and training classes when required
Competency Requirements
Have a good working knowledge of the tasks required to perform on all phases of electrical work in accordance with the latest edition of the American Electricians’ Handbook, Local and National Electrical Codes
Bend Conduits using hand benders, mechanical benders or hydraulic benders Knowledge of the use of power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, knock punches and any tools associated with the electrical industry.
Operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers and any other tools associated with the electrical industry.
Qualification/Experience Requirements
Considerable progressive experience in electrical maintenance and repair at the Journeyman Electrician level, including supervisory experience.
Some experience diagnosing mechanical problems involving air-conditioning or refrigeration equipment, manufacturing equipment and tools.
4 years commercial electrical experience preferred

Electrician I
Education: Highschool, Vocational Technical Training, or equivalent
Exp: 0-2 years commercial electrical experience preferred

Education: Highschool, Vocational Technical Training, or equivalent
Exp: 2-4 years commercial electrical experience preferred
Cert: Working toward Electrician License Preferred
Electrician III
Education: Highschool, Vocational Technical Training, or equivalent
Exp: 4+ years commercial electrical experience preferred
Cert: Must have journeyman's license or above through DPOR
