UNSW Rural (Wagga Wagga campus) brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at our rural campuses across several locations. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery as students build strong relationships with and benefit from more personal interaction with clinicians and other academics and become a part of the local medical community. UNSWs program has strongly supported the aims of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program for over 25 years, delivering excellence in rural medical education and student experience.

Role Details
Employment Type: Part-time (7 hours a week)
Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2026
Remuneration: $127,947 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading (as appropriate)
Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities and Role Purpose
The Lecturer, Rural (EF) role enables academics to specialise in education and devote time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. The role is committed to high quality teaching with a demonstrated interest in local rural medical education and a strong focus on the applications of basic sciences for clinical competency or patient-centred interdisciplinary healthcare in medical practice. The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the identified campus and has no direct reports.
Key Skills and Qualifications
A BMedMD, MBBS (or equivalent), and a Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College and eligible for medical registration in New South Wales.
Demonstrated record of achievement and effectiveness in practical face-to-face teaching and supervision at undergraduate level with a proven commitment to rural medical and health education.
Ability to develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning and engagement.
Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and small group teaching for the undergraduate program.
Support the recruitment of rural students in the Rural Entry Admissions Pathway (REAP), including participation in interview training and medicine student entry interviews.
