Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg Tele position in a secure oncology corrections unit, requiring Epic charting experience and an OH or compact RN license. Responsibilities

Work in a secure corrections medical-surgical/telemetry unit serving inmates

Float to various oncology medical-surgical (MS) and progressive care units (PCU) as needed

Care for patients with active or historical oncology diagnoses and other medical-surgical conditions

Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for MS

Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30

Unit utilizes Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration

Weekend shifts are required based on unit needs

Unit is locked with access controlled by Corrections Officers

Duties include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, feeding tube care, hemodialysis management, and non-invasive airway management

Must ensure staff safety within a corrections unit environment

Frequent collaboration with interpretation services, pharmacy, therapy, radiology, rapid response, respiratory, and social services

RTO (requested time off) must be submitted with the application and built into the contract

All candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract

Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Former employees may return after a 6-month break; current employees at Ohio State University hospitals are not eligible for travel assignments Requirements

Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

Experience with Epic charting required

Medical-Surgical/Telemetry skills required

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

At least two professional references required, one from a supervisor or manager
