Job Title: STP Technician

Department: Facilities / Maintenance / Utilities

Reports to: STP Supervisor / Plant Manager / Facility Manager

Location: SAUDI ARABIA

Job Type: Full-time / Shift-based / Contract

Job Summary:

The STP Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Sewage Treatment Plant systems to ensure the effective treatment of wastewater and compliance with environmental regulations. The technician monitors equipment performance, records operational data, and performs routine and preventive maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor all equipment and systems related to the STP, including pumps, motors, blowers, aeration systems, filters, and chemical dosing systems.

Carry out regular inspection and maintenance of STP units.

Collect and test water samples for pH, BOD, COD, TSS, TDS, etc., using appropriate instruments or by sending to a lab.

Maintain records of system performance, chemical consumption, and water quality data.

Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical faults.

Ensure proper dosing of chemicals like chlorine, alum, and polymers.

Clean tanks, screens, clarifiers, and other STP components as needed.

Ensure that treated water meets the quality standards set by environmental agencies.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), health & safety guidelines, and environmental compliance protocols.

Report faults or breakdowns to the supervisor and assist in repairs.

Manage sludge disposal as per regulatory requirements.

Keep the STP area clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Qualifications & Skills:

ITI/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

2–5 years of experience in operating and maintaining STPs or ETPs (Effluent Treatment Plants).

Familiarity with STP technologies such as MBBR, SBR, ASP, or MBR.

Basic knowledge of water quality parameters and lab testing procedures.

Ability to read operation manuals and understand process flow diagrams.

Good physical fitness and willingness to work in a plant environment.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to wet, noisy, and odorous environments.

Use of PPE (gloves, masks, boots, etc.) is mandatory.

Work both indoors and outdoors depending on facility design.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

STP/ETP Operator Certification (if applicable in your region)

Safety & HAZMAT training certifications
