Forming a close partnership with the sector team to understand their investment process and the specific alternative datasets relevant to the sector, translating quantitative analysis into clear, actionable insights for a non-technical audience. Leveraging quantitative analyses to identify and tailor data science applications that drive actionable investment insights including analyzing alternative datasets related to publicly listed companies within the framework of fundamental investment research. Analyzing datasets to measure predictive power, building machine learning (ML) models and signals, testing investment hypotheses, and creating dashboards to visualize data and results; applying and implementing Bayesian models including hierarchical Bayesian techniques; performing advanced time series analysis for macroeconomic and industry data forecasting; use of RStudio, Python, AWS as well as Snowflake and DBeaver. Maintaining strong working knowledge of the sector-specific alternative dataset and vendors, manipulating, analyzing and interpreting key consumer sector datasets including credit card transactions, foot traffic, point-of-sale scanner, web traffic, and app usage data and identify trends and synthesize findings into investment insights. Working with our compliance, procurement and data engineering teams to lead onboarding projects. Creating effective data visualizations and present high-quality research to investors, as well as other data scientists and quantitative researchers noting communication of results not only illustrates model outcomes but also provides strategic recommendations grounded in a well-defined hypothesis and validated outcomes. Working with the rest of the data science team to jointly review projects and promote best practices in research design and implementation, ensuring that every project adheres to a high standard of methodological rigor and can be scaled or adapted for future use cases. Building and maintaining a robust model repository by writing repeatable, scalable code and deploying statistical analyses at scale and building and orchestrating data pipelines using workflow management tools including Airflow and version control workflows, particularly using GitHub.
Experience must have included Analyzing alternative datasets related to publicly listed companies within the framework of fundamental investment research; Manipulating, analyzing and interpreting key consumer sector datasets including credit card transactions, foot traffic, point-of-sale scanner, web traffic, and app usage data and identify trends and synthesize findings into investment insights; Partnering with external stakeholders to understand their specific needs and translating quantitative analysis into clear, actionable insights for a non-technical audience; Applying and implementing Bayesian models including hierarchical Bayesian techniques to analyze consumer behavior and forecast customer lifetime value, thereby delivering strategic and tactical company-level insights; Performing time series analysis, including ARIMA and SARIMAX, for macroeconomic and industry data forecasting; Building and maintaining a robust model repository by writing repeatable, scalable code and deploying statistical analyses at scale; Hands-on experience building and orchestrating data pipelines using workflow management tools including Airflow; Creating effective data visualizations using Tableau to communicate complex insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; Use of essential data science tools and platforms including RStudio, Python, AWS; Working with version control workflows, particularly using GitHub; and Use of SQL and working with query engines including Snowflake and DBeaver.
