Purpose
The Accounting Associate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and preparing financial statements. Based in our Columbus office, this role requires both technical accounting skills and strong business acumen to understand financial dependencies and support decision-making. While primarily focused on Columbus, the position will also support various projects for our Buffalo office remotely.
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Month-End Close & Reporting
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and reports to ensure accurate month-end close.
Support the preparation of financial statements, reviewed by the Finance Director.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Process AP/AR transactions accurately and on time.
Reconcile vendor and customer accounts, investigate discrepancies, and follow up as needed.
Manage customer/vendor master data and ensure data integrity.
Financial Analysis & Business Support
Provide variance analysis and insights into business performance.
Collaborate with operations and sales teams to understand financial impacts of business activities.
Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
Project & Cross-Site Support
Support special finance projects for both Columbus and Buffalo (remotely).
Assist in system improvements, audits, and ad-hoc requests.
What we are looking for
College diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience (including month-end close).
Strong knowledge of AP/AR processes and general ledger accounting.
Good understanding of financial analysis, risk management, and internal controls.
Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with ERP/CRM systems.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
Flexibility to support projects across sites.
