Corporate Controller 5+ years experience

Primary Purpose of Position
Guide / Lead the global cost accounting team members to develop and maintain an effective cost accounting system to reduce cost and improve overall profitability. Review and analyze actual vs quoted performance, month end reporting and involvement in Budget Process Provide financial information to appropriate stakeholders in an accurate, timely and effective manner through leading, coaching and performing all duties involving meridian group accounting and cost systems. This role is also responsible for internal control compliance and tax related matters.
Major Responsibilities of Position
Meeting all business plan goals: Motivating and directing the management team to address financial objectives. Provide financial information to appropriate stakeholders in an accurate, timely and effective manner through leading, coaching and performing all duties necessary.
Accounting functions: Complete understanding of SCAR (Standard Cost Activity Report) and how it relates to costing of inventory and related relationship with the financial statements. Understand the part cost structure, how Engineering s role impacts the financial output of SCAR. Analysis of costing down to lowest level (Equipment) to properly allocate costs to work-centers.
Lean: Responsible for assisting the Lean/CI teams.
Analysis / Reporting: Monitor and analyze costs, variance calculations between target, quote and actual, monthly reporting, analysis and consolidation as required.
Systems: Understand how the part cost structure works and how it relates to gross profit, cost of goods sold and overall profitability. Be the subject matter expert on SCAR and all related inventory transactions. Ensuring financial systems are effective, timely, efficient, legal, and complete.
Goal setting: Guide cost accounting employees to work together effectively and to perform their tasks and duties timely, accurately, with pride and satisfaction. Facilitate cooperation between the global cost accounting teams.
Objectives/Targets Team: Assist in the setting of global objectives and targets as well as establishing measurables with regards to cost management
Communication: Effectively communicating with all employees, management and ensuring that open and honest lines of communication are available.
Internal Controls Ensure compliance to internal controls, test and audit internal controls. Support annual audit activities specific to internal controls
Tax Compliance: Liaise with Tax Authorities regarding Goods and Services Tax, Provincial Retail Sales Tax, International Value Added Tax, Corporate Income Return Filings
Other responsibilities as required, including special projects as they arise.

Educational and Certification Background
Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Business
Progressive automotive manufacturing Tier 1 experience a minimum of 5 years.
Experience in accounting and supervision of a team with emphasis in Cost Accounting
CA, CMA, or CGA designation or international equivalent
